The job was successfully completed despite severe weather conditions ( - 15o C temperatures ) due to the excellent application and cure characteristics of Purethane® 386/9000, as well as technical know how of Amchem personnel. At sub zero temperatures, microscopic ice particles on the steel substrate can severely compromise the adhesion of coatings. To prevent this from happening, the 2,500 feet long pipeline was heated prior to coating to a temperature of + 5 C using an aircraft jet engine ! |
